Pakistan Marks Historic Success at Expo 2025 Osaka at Closing Ceremony

Osaka, Japan – October 13, 2025: Pakistan’s participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, concluded today with the closing ceremony, celebrating the nation’s outstanding contributions to the six-month-long Expo. H.E. Abdul Hameed, Section Commissioner General of Pakistan at Expo 2025/Ambassador designate of Pakistan to Japan, Mr. Muhammad Naseer, Project Director, Expo 2025/Senior Director General, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, and Ms. Madiha Ali, the Trade and Investment Counsellor, represented Pakistan at the closing ceremony.

Expo 2025 Osaka, held under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” featured 158 countries presenting innovations, cultural heritage, and visions for the future. The Pakistan Pavilion curated by Noor Jehan Bilgrami welcomed over 1.8 million visitors, setting a record for the highest attendance by a Pakistani Pavilion at any World Expo.

The closing ceremony, held at EXPO Hall “Shining Hat,” featured remarks from His Imperial Highness Crown Prince Akishino, Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru, Osaka Governor Hirofumi Yoshimura, and Mr. Ishige Hiroyuki, Secretary-General of the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition. Prime Minister Ishiba announced that Expo 2025 had attracted over 28 million visitors. The ceremony concluded with the symbolic handover of the BIE flag to host city of the upcoming World Expo 2030 Riyadh.

At Pakistan Pavilion, a ceremony was held to celebrate the two prestigious awards won by Pakistan. The Section Commissioner General awarded certificates of appreciation to the Pakistan Pavilion’s ushers, volunteers and staff in recognition of their dedication.

Pakistan’s participation successfully showcased the nation’s cultural richness, mineral resources, innovative spirit, and international trade potential, leaving a lasting impression on global audiences and reinforcing Pakistan’s growing role in shaping discussions on sustainable future societies.

At Expo 2025 Osaka, the Pakistan Pavilion was delighted to welcome Javed Chaudhry, one of Pakistan’s most respected voices in journalism. 🇵🇰

On October 4, 2025, the Pakistan Pavilion was represented by its Director, Mr. Naseer, at the Roundtable Dialogue – Shaping Sustainable Futures, hosted at the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka. 🇵🇰🇦🇪

The Knowledge Lab gathered global partners to exchange experiences and explore solutions in education, climate action, and infrastructure development — strengthening collaboration towards the Sustainable Development Goals.

Pakistan’s participation reflected the Pavilion’s commitment to dialogue, cooperation, and building a shared vision for future societies.

A Tree for Pakistan at the Forest of Civilizations

A tree for Pakistan – a legacy for the world.
At Expo 2025 Osaka, the Forest of Civilizations stands as a unique artistic installation — 133 subfossil oak trees, each more than 6,500 years old, excavated from deep within the earth and dedicated to the nations of the Expo. These ancient trunks symbolically represent the nations of the Expo, standing as timeless witnesses to human heritage and the evolution of life on Earth. 🌍


    One of these ancient oaks now bears the name of Pakistan, carrying a message from the Pakistan Pavilion to the world. Visitors can listen to this message in three languages by scanning the QR code on the plaque beside the tree.

      Salt Stories: A Cultural, Scientific & Artistic Collaboration – Jordan, Poland & Pakistan

      At Expo 2025 Osaka, the Jordan, Pakistan, and Poland Pavilions came together for Salt Stories — a celebration of salt as more than a mineral, but a bridge between cultures. 🇯🇴🇵🇰🇵🇱

      From the healing waters of the Dead Sea to the crystalline glow of Pakistan’s Pink Rock Salt and the storied depths of Poland’s salt mines, the event revealed how this ancient element carries heritage, creativity, and harmony across borders. 🌍

      The collaboration featured a five-day exhibition of salt products, inviting visitors to explore its cultural, scientific, and artistic significance. It culminated in the signing of The Salt Alliance, a pledge to preserve nature, foster peace, and strengthen cultural exchange for generations to come.

      Pakistan Wins Two International Awards at World Expo 2025 Osaka

      Pakistan’s Pavilion at World Expo 2025 Osaka has earned international recognition by winning two prestigious awards, marking a proud moment for the country on the global stage.

      The Pavilion received the Bronze Award in the ‘Exhibition Category’ from the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) at a special ceremony held in Osaka.

      The award was accepted by Mr. Muhammad Naseer, Senior Director General, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), also the Project Director for the Pakistan Pavilion at Osaka

      In addition, the Pavilion has been honored with the Editors’ Choice Award by Exhibitor Online, a leading international publication that celebrates creativity and innovation at World Expos. The award recognized Pakistan for its imaginative design, cultural authenticity, and compelling storytelling concept, “Universe in a Grain of Salt,” inspired by Pink Rock Salt.

      The Pakistan Pavilion has already welcomed more than 1.7 million visitors over period of six months.

      These recognitions reaffirm Pakistan’s growing presence on the global stage and celebrate the collective efforts of the Ministry of Commerce, the Embassy of Pakistan, Tokyo, the Curatorial team, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, and all stakeholders involved in showcasing the best of Pakistan at Expo 2025 Osaka.
