Osaka, Japan, May 14, 2025: As part of The Future of Community and Mobility Week at Expo 2025 Osaka, the Government of Pakistan will present a flagship event titled “Environmentally Resilient: Clean and Green Pakistan” on May 16, 2025, at the Theme Week Studio. Organised by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, the event brings to global audiences Pakistan’s vision of sustainable development shaped by resilience, innovation, and ecological responsibility.
The session will open with keynote remarks from Dr. Irfan Abbas Shah, Section Commissioner General for Expo 2025 Osaka and Economic Minister at the Embassy of Pakistan in Tokyo. In his address, Dr. Shah will reflect on Pakistan’s journey and impact at Expo 2025, highlighting how the country’s narrative of environmental transformation has been expressed through its participation in this landmark global platform.

Following the keynote, a high-level panel discussion will explore the country’s comprehensive climate policies and breakthrough initiatives, including the National Carbon Market Policy and the Green Pakistan Programme. Key figures such as Aisha Humera Ch., Secretary at the Ministry, Saadullah Ayaz, Member Mitigation at the Pakistan Climate Change Authority, and Arif Goheer, Executive Director of the Global Climate Change Impact Studies Centre, will lead conversations on Pakistan’s adaptive strategies, renewable energy efforts, biodiversity conservation, and climate finance mobilisation. The session will be moderated by Ms Khalida Bashir, Joint Secretary at the Ministry, whose policy acumen and facilitative leadership will guide the discourse.

Set within the thematic framework of “A Journey Towards a Sustainable Future,” the event aspires to spark dialogue, foster partnerships, and deepen awareness of Pakistan’s commitment to climate resilience. The ambassador of japan to pakistan visited pakistan pavilion at world expo 2025 osaka

H.E. Mr. Shuichi Akamatsu, the Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, along with his spouse visited the Pakistan Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka today. The Ambassador expressed deep appreciation for the Pavilion’s creative concept, immersive atmosphere, and meaningful cultural representation.

During his visit, the Ambassador took particular interest in the historical mural, which narrates the story of the Salt Range, from its formation 800 million years ago to the ancient civilizations of Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro, the legend of Alexander the Great’s horses discovering salt, and the Mughal era. He praised the mural’s depth and its ability to connect geological and cultural history in a compelling way.

The Ambassador also spent time in the Healing Garden, a quiet, meditative space designed for reflection. He thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful setting, taking a moment to sit, inhale deeply, and appreciate the sense of calm it offered.

The Ambassador and his spouse also visited the Display Area, where they admired a wide array of traditional handicrafts, blue pottery, and cultural artifacts. He also appreciated the breathtaking film on the Khewra Salt Range, noting how the visuals added emotional richness to the Pavilion’s central theme.
