High-level event on May 16 to spotlight the country’s climate leadership, green ambitions, and sustainability vision during The Future of Community and Mobility Week
Osaka, Japan, May 14, 2025: As part of The Future of Community and Mobility Week at Expo 2025 Osaka, the Government of Pakistan will present a flagship event titled “Environmentally Resilient: Clean and Green Pakistan” on May 16, 2025, at the Theme Week Studio. Organised by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, the event brings to global audiences Pakistan’s vision of sustainable development shaped by resilience, innovation, and ecological responsibility.
The session will open with keynote remarks from Dr. Irfan Abbas Shah, Section Commissioner General for Expo 2025 Osaka and Economic Minister at the Embassy of Pakistan in Tokyo. In his address, Dr. Shah will reflect on Pakistan’s journey and impact at Expo 2025, highlighting how the country’s narrative of environmental transformation has been expressed through its participation in this landmark global platform.
Following the keynote, a high-level panel discussion will explore the country’s comprehensive climate policies and breakthrough initiatives, including the National Carbon Market Policy and the Green Pakistan Programme. Key figures such as Aisha Humera Ch., Secretary at the Ministry, Saadullah Ayaz, Member Mitigation at the Pakistan Climate Change Authority, and Arif Goheer, Executive Director of the Global Climate Change Impact Studies Centre, will lead conversations on Pakistan’s adaptive strategies, renewable energy efforts, biodiversity conservation, and climate finance mobilisation. The session will be moderated by Ms Khalida Bashir, Joint Secretary at the Ministry, whose policy acumen and facilitative leadership will guide the discourse.
Set within the thematic framework of “A Journey Towards a Sustainable Future,” the event aspires to spark dialogue, foster partnerships, and deepen awareness of Pakistan’s commitment to climate resilience. Alongside substantive discussions, the experience will be enriched through visual storytelling, printed materials, and thoughtfully curated souvenirs that reflect Pakistan’s environmental ethos and cultural heritage.
The event unfolds against the evocative backdrop of the Pakistan Pavilion, which continues to enchant Expo visitors with its multisensory Healing Garden and the majestic Pink Rock Salt Tower — a glowing emblem of nature, wellness, and harmony. With its salt-tiled flooring and serene design, the pavilion offers a sanctuary for reflection and renewal, while narrating Pakistan’s story through immersive digital landscapes, elemental textures, and symbolic architecture. It is a space where the spirit of sustainability is not only spoken of but deeply felt.

Commenting on the occasion, Muhammad Naseer, Project Director for Expo 2025 at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, said:
“Through this event, we share a story that is rooted in urgency but delivered with hope. It reflects Pakistan’s evolving response to the climate crisis and our commitment to building a future where people and the planet can thrive together. We extend our sincere thanks to the organisers of Expo 2025 Osaka and the Theme Weeks team for their gracious collaboration and support in making this vision a reality.”
The event is part of Expo 2025’s broader commitment to Designing Future Society for Our Lives. It offers a window into how countries like Pakistan are shaping resilient pathways toward global sustainability.
